About this beer

We added citrusy hops and the very fresh scent of Kawachi Bankan from Ehime Prefecture to a crisp IPA, and finished it as a dry, juicy and easy-to-drink IPA. The base is a "Brut IPA", as crisp as dry champagne. The refreshing scent of Kawachi Bankan, also called the "Japanese grapefruit", continues from the first sip to the aftertaste.

Why "4 O'CLOCK"？

Origin of name

Do you have to wait until five o'clock to drink beer? When you start to feel restless, let's finish today's work about here. "Let's call it a day." With that thought in mind, we named this beer after "4 o'clock", a little earlier than closing time. Be honest with your own heart and enjoy your precious time to the fullest. It is a free-spirited beer that is just like DD4D.

Development story

The star of this beer, Kawachi Bankan, comes from Ainan Town in Ehime Prefecture. It looks like a lemon, but its bitterness and acidity are both mild, and because of that freshness it is also called the "Japanese grapefruit". We wanted to seal this fresh scent into beer. That is why we chose Brut IPA, a style that ferments the sugar to the very limit and finishes dry. By using plenty of Kawachi Bankan peel, we achieved both a gorgeous aroma and a crisp finish.

What 4 O'CLOCK is particular about is a thoroughly dry and crisp taste.
With a method in which enzymes ferment the sugar to the limit, it is finished cleanly without leaving any sweetness.
The hops include Idaho 7 and Centennial. It is a combination that brings out the citrus aroma that overlaps with Kawachi Bankan.
By adding Kawachi Bankan peel at the end, we gave it a fresh scent that spreads the moment you pour it.

A word from our captain

There is no doubt that a drink after work is the best, but sometimes it is also special to call it a day at four o'clock and drink beer while it is still light outside. (These days the DD4D brewing team calls it a day around two or three. Lol) The scent of Kawachi Bankan is really fresh, so I want you to gulp it down in the daytime on a hot day.
Please try it with a "slightly early toast".
